Latent – the present and accessible in the unconscious mind but not consciously expressed. The works in this exhibition are a series of emotional portraits. Developed over a 12-month period, the works act as snapshots of the psyche and the latent emotions that exist within each of us. Using the vocabulary of abstract expressionism, the painted surfaces suggest the removal of skin in order to examine what lies underneath, revealing the energy, confusion, and emotion of our inner life.
